Fluid-Bed Drying
Marriott Walker provides both internal and external fluid beds. Whether our spray dryers are equipped with an internal fluid bed or an external fluid bed or both depends on the specific application and the desired powder characteristics.
Our internal static fluid beds are often used for secondary drying at lower temperatures and to prevent deposits on the internal surfaces of the drying chamber. With an internal fluid bed, the operator has more control and can fine-tune to the exact product specifications. Internal adjustable weirs control the retention time in the fluid by varying the fluidized bed depth.
Our external fluid beds can be divided into several sections, to suit the processors specific requirements. The external fluid bed is either a standalone unit, or it is an integrated part of the spray drying system. In either case the external fluid bed will facilitate the capability for secondary drying and final cooling of the product.
